Becoming a Foster
This program centers around a short-term volunteer opportunity by placing "in-need" piggies with individuals who have previous experience, are interested in adopting a guinea pig, or just want to add some excitement to their lives. By fostering, not only are you providing a guinea pig (or several) with a great home, but are teaching them much-needed people skills. Guinea pigs that have been fostered in the past have a much better chance at getting adopted!
So what does it take?
Despite their BIG personality, guinea pigs are creatures that depend on you. To become one of our fosters, we do have requirements:
- Attend at least one hands on training course.
- Attend the monthly zoom call.
- Be in contact with our Foster Coordinator and/or Founder for updates/health concerns.
- If the foster is under 18, a parent or guardian MUST attend all calls and training with the child.
We at Second Chance Cavy Rescue are thrilled you are considering fostering a guinea pig (or several!) and want to ensure the best environment for them and you. We can provide everything they'll need including pellets, hay, house, cage and liner, 4ft table (if needed), and health/vet check-ups.
