Our Fosters Rock!
Thinking of becoming a guinea pig foster parent?
Our foster program centers around a short-term (1-3 month) volunteer opportunity by placing guinea pigs with individuals who have previous guinea pig care experience, are interested in adopting a guinea pig, or just want to add some excitement to their lives. By fostering, not only are you providing a guinea pig (or several) with a great home, but are teaching them much-needed people skills. Studies show that guinea pigs that have been fostered have a much better chance at getting adopted!
So what does it take?
Despite their BIG personality, guinea pigs are little critters and have some unique care requirements. To join our team of fosters, we ask you:
- Complete our foster application below
- Attend our monthly foster zoom meeting
- Stay in contact with our Foster Coordinator with updates or any health concerns
- Be available to bring your foster piggies to Meet & Greets
If needed, SCCR will provide pellets, hay, hidey, habitat and liner, and any health/vet check-ups. If you need to go on vacation while fostering, Stephanie at The Guinea Pig B & B will board foster piggies at no charge while you are away.
